Last weekend I prepped an apple pie to bake at friend's house so his birthday. Unfortunately, it had a tragic fall in the car, but I was lucky I set aside extra pie filling so the second pie was easy to assemble.
Ingredients
Filling
Premade pie crust (or make your own if you're fancy)
4-5 cups of peeled & sliced apples (I used golden delicious)
1 tbsp of lemon juice
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg (I used ground cloves instead)
Topping
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 room temp butter or margarine
Kitchenware: pie plate, peeler, measuring cups, measuring spoons, 2 mixing bowls, fork, and spoon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Fit pie crust into your pie plate.
To prepare the filling mix the sliced apples, lemon juice, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a mixing bowl. Put into crust.
To prepare the top mix the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and butter with a fork. Mix until there is a coarse/ crumbly mixture. Sprinkle over the apples with a spoon.
Bake for 50 minutes.
TA DA grab some vanilla ice cream and enjoy your pie.
